Senior Cleveland Home Owner Property Tax Reduction
Great news for seniors who own homes in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. A new property tax reduction will begin January 2, 2012 through June 4, 2012. Cleveland area owner occupants who are at least 65 years old or permanently disabled are eligible. The program reduces real estate property taxes for seniors and disabled homeowners regardless of their income. For more details call the city at 216-443-7050.
Another update for senior homeowners or disabled property owners is the waste collection fees. They will be reduced beginning January 2012. Homeowners in Cuyahoga County, Ohio will have their waste collection fees increased by $8.50 per household unit per month. However, residential property owned and occupied by senior citizens age 65 and older or disabled homeowners who meet income guidelines may be eligible to receive a discounted rate of 50% or $4.25 per month. To request a waste collection fee or water rate reduction through the Cleveland City’s Homestead Exemption Program call 216-664-3130 and ask for customer service.
